FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Fort Wayne, IN — February 12, 2026 — Fort Wayne Sport Club 1927SC amateur men’s soccer team is pleased to announce the appointment of Micah Middendorf as the club’s new Head Coach ahead of the 2026 competitive season. Middendorf brings a wealth of collegiate and high-level coaching experience, a strong player-development philosophy, and a deep commitment to the game as he takes the reins of one of Northeast Indiana’s most historic soccer organizations. Middendorf replaces former head coach Nick Potter, following his leadership of the club in recent seasons.

Founded in 1927, Fort Wayne Sport Club has been a cornerstone of the local soccer community for nearly a century. Through its flagship adult team, 1927SC, the club continues to compete at a high level as a member of the Midwest Premier League (MWPL) while honoring its heritage and developing talent within the region.

“We are thrilled to welcome Micah Middendorf as our Head Coach,” said general manager Dave Bennett. “Micah’s experience at the collegiate level, his leadership style, and his passion for developing players make him an excellent fit for 1927SC as we look toward the future.”

Middendorf joins 1927SC after serving as Head Men’s Soccer Coach at Concordia University Chicago in River Forest, Illinoiswhere he led the program at the collegiate level for 11 years and was instrumental in player development, recruitment, and program growth. His time at Concordia University provided him with valuable experience managing competitive environments, building cohesive team cultures, and preparing players to perform at a high standard.

In addition to his collegiate coaching background, Middendorf has been actively involved in the Fort Wayne soccer community, including serving as Head Girls Soccer Coach at Concordia Lutheran High School. His combined experience at the college, high school, and club levels positions him well to lead 1927SC both on and off the field.

“I’m honored to be named Head Coach of Fort Wayne Sport Club 1927SC,” said Middendorf. “This club has a proud history and strong connection to the community. I’m excited to work with the players and staff to build a competitive, disciplined, and united team as we prepare for the 2026 season.”

Under Middendorf’s leadership, 1927SC will emphasize tactical discipline, player development, and a competitive team identity rooted in the club’s longstanding traditions. Preparations for the 2026 season will begin later this year, with preseason activities and roster planning already underway.
